Social media can be a fantastic platform to advertise your business and products and build up a brand, but it does need to be used with care.
One of the advantages of social media is that you can very quickly reach a potentially large audience. If you are trying to launch a new product or announce the opening of a new store, then you can get the message out there to thousands of people in minutes. The downside of this is that if you say or do something wrong, that can also spread like wildfire. So many businesses have been caught out by using social media platforms in the wrong way and finding themselves being slammed by people online.
Before you send anything out on social media, whether it be a picture, a post of your own or even sharing someone else’s post, think carefully about the content. Is it something that you should be promoting and are you doing it in the right way? You can take posts down quite quickly but often the damage is already done by then and it can be too later to take it back. Social media marketing definitely does have its place when done with care.
